What is your review and rate on the AIPTEK IS-DV?
I know it isn’t a popular brand but I’ve read some review and it seems good.

What I think is that, this is basically a digital still camera. But the specifications are changed slightly to claim it as a camcorder. It does not have optical zoom, which you will feel badly needed when you will go for vedio recording (digital zoom will not satisty you, because it decreases the quality to a very low level). I htink the battery will not support a suitable time for you for vedio recording. But, yes, it is cheap and you can use it as still camera and also for occassional vedio recording.
This camera uses highly compressed mpeg-4 recording, which gives a quality similar to that of a youtube video. If you are looking for a camera primarily for video, pay an extra $100 and get something in the MiniDV format. Stuff filmed on the Aiptek just won’t have the kind of quality you would want when playing something back on your TV. I see the Aiptek as more of a novelty “do-all” item. If you want quality video or quality photos, choose the right camera that’s made for the job.
