I have an Aiptek A-HD-DV 720p Camcorder that hooks up to my computer through a USB port. I have switched the resolution to 352X240 (CIF) (WEB) on my camcorder to see if that would help, but I am still unable to use/figure out how to use my camcorder as a webcam. I know there has to be a good/easy way in doing this. I’ve checked the manual, but it doesn’t seem to have what I want nor does the CD. Is there a piece of free software that can help me get around this? I really need/want to be able to get this to work. Do you have any suggestions (software or otherwise) at all that might help?

If not, I also have a HP Photosmart M517 Digital Camera that also hooks up via USB. Is that possible to use as a webcam?

Either way – I do not hold video quality as a priority right now, I just want to be able to get one of these two devices to work as a webcam.

Again, your help is greatly appreciated.

Are there any other specifications that you need to know in order to figure out an answer?

I’ve been told it can be used as a webcam.
I downloaded the driver and installed it.
Now how do I use the camera on things like yahoo! messenger, and MSN?

I have a Pocket DV5900. I want to use it as a web cam. I downloaded the software at aiptek.com. but when i open it from my desk top it says fail to connect device. what am i doing wrong? I also have a Dell, windows vista. and i read the manual for it. and on step 5 it says after the codec More

I also have a Dell, windows vista. and i read the manual for it. and on step 5 it says after the codec installation is complete, the program will prompt you to install Direct X 8.0 or above. this doesnt show up for me. steps 1-4 work perfect. step 5 never shows up.

On the website that i got at www.aiptek.com it says that it also works as a mp3, webcam I just want to now how to make it work. (I through the box away)

I can’t seem to find a straight answer, but I really wish that there was a way to use either one for a webcam. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Its a aiptek pocket DV 11 1.3M camcord the cd it came with won’t work in my computer. I took drivers from computer web site and it still don’t have a web cam connection. I don’t know what to do i got win98 it should work. I hope someone can help me.

seems to lose it’s connection, Ive changed the resolution on the camera but that didnt work…can anyone help?

I have used the drivers from the disk and downloaded from the website. I have checked the cable to make sure it was connected and working properly. I am running Windows XP Home SP2. I am at a loss as to what to do next.
