I’m want to get into film one day (as a job), and until then I really enjoy fooling around and experimenting with video on my own. For the last couple years I’ve been using an Aiptek camera, it was about $150 two and a half years ago and it shoots videos in a resolution equivalent to a high res online video (like youtube on it’s high res setting). Over the summer I was able to nail a job and have been able to get all of the electronic goodies I’ve desired, but I haven’t gotten around to getting a good camera yet. I wouldn’t mind using a digital video camera that records onto an SD card or even miniDVDs. Any one got any ideas of a good digital video camera for around $250 or $300 (stupid american dollar!)?

Is a JVC MiniDV Digital Camcorder with 2.7″ Color LCD Monitor a decent camcorder for making like home movies and editing them? Or is a Aiptek High-Definition Digital Camcorder w/2.4″ Color LCD Screen and Docking Station better or is a Panasonic – Palmcorder MiniDV Digital Camcorder better which is the best.

I don’t know allot about camera’s and I’m looking for a digital camcorder so that I can some videos for youtube, is this a good deal?

Yea so I want to buy this camera and want to know if its decent. Just want some clear pics and clear videos and decent web cam videos. but I read reviews on it and they said the quality was very poor.
Well Brent I am a novice camera user and the camera I listed is only like 90 bucks after tax at walmart. Since I really wouldnt be using it often and not expecting photographer or artist type detail I dont think Ill need a sony since I saw most of their cameras are in the hundreds – a grand+
But is this camera decent? Im about to order it unless someone can point out a flaw it has that I dont know. There is virtually no reviews that I could find and the only thing I read that 1 person didnt like was the cameras size which makes no difference to me. Oh and that you use batteries instead of a battery pack(Ill buy rechargeable batteries)
