Can you upload your videos to pc from Aiptek MPVR?

I’m thinking about getting this camcorder but need to know if I can put the videos I recorded on my computer to edit them and put on a website.

Thanks

According to the manual that I found online at http://www.goaiptek.com/manuals/manual-mpvr.pdf
you should be able to as long as your computer meets the System Requirements.

    System Requirements
    • Microsoft Windows 98SE /
    ME / 2000 / XP
    • Macintosh Support: File Upload Only
    • PIII (or Equivalent)
    • Direct X 8.0 or Above
    • 128 MB of RAM (256 MB Recommended)
    • Video Card with 32 MB of RAM for minimum 24 bit (True Color) Display
    • 4X Speed CD-ROM
    • An Available USB Port
    Package Contents
    • MPVR Camera
    • Lithium Ion Battery
    • Battery Charger
    • USB/AV Output Cable
    • AV Input Cable
    • Headset (Ear Buds)
    • Wrist Strap
    • User’s Guide
    Included Software
    • Camera Manager

    • Muvee AutoProducer

    • ArcSoft Photo Impression

    • ArcSoft Media Card Companion

    • ArcSoft MediaConverter

I personally have found that it’s better to get a FireWire DV Card. But, the camera I have will not upload videos to the PC through a USB Cable, only still images. According to this manual, your Aiptek should. Usually, a regular USB cable isn’t fast enough for good video.

If you find that the videos are not of good quality, try 4 Port FireWire i.Link by Startech.com. That’s what I have, it’s pretty good, and was quite cheap. You can find several types here at CDW (a great place to buy stuff for computers)

There are others’ you can search for if you’re interested in a name brand.

As far as putting them on a website… Videos take up a lot of space. You’ll want to get a good server. Both your camera and any FireWire cards should come with decent video editing software. You can also look into Adobe Premiere, but it’s $$. You’ll want to look into which is the best format and compression, depending on the size of the videos you want to use.

    Hope this helps.
