I have had this tablet for 5 mo. and have yet to have it work on any of 3 computers running Windows Me and 98. I have not gotten any response to 3 e-mail requests for tech support and a live phone call just puts you on indefinate hold. It appears that there is a problem with their drivers, but neither the one on the CD-rom, or the ones that can be downloaded from their site work. This is one of the worst products and customer service I have encountered in 20+ years of working with pc’s. Don’t waste you money on this piece of garbage!

I bought this graphics tablet thinking it would help in making more precise cutouts in graphics programs. Such as people or objects from
one photo pasted into another. Instead it randomly jumped all over the
screen out of control. Like it had a mind of its own. If you want precision, don’t waste your time or money on this piece of crap.

Great Tablet for the Price!!!
I got mine a few weeks ago, and I have had no problems whatsoever (I’ve been using it several hours a day). I read alot of reviews and decided that I’d try this one first before I kill my pocket book to get a Wacom Intuos. Pressure sensitivity-wise, this claims the same amount of steps as the current Wacom Grapphire series (512). Version I have has the latest drivers, and installed without a hitch (I use Win XP Pro, SP1 – some of my apps do not work with SP2…). Thus far I am very impressed. I like it better than the Sapphire3 I tried for a while from a friend. I don’t need extra buttons on my tablet, and since I couldn’t afford an Intuos, the Aiptek is the perfect choice. A good graphics Tablet with a 12″ x 9″ active area for a little more than $100. You can’t beat that.

Update 19-Dec-2003: I received my replacement Hyperpen from Amazon yesterday and it looks to be in great condition. Amazon got the replacement to me in only two days which I think is incredibly fast. No hassle and UPS picked up the damaged one for return and it didn’t cost me a cent extra. I didn’t even have to print off a label to put on the return. I am raising my rating to a 3 until I get a chance to actually use the Hyperpen. That will be on Christmas when my daughter opens her present. I will update my review again after Christmas.
Update 15-Dec-2003: I just received my Hyperpen today and had the same problem another reviewer had. The product has been vandalized at Amazon’s warehouse or during packaging by the manufacturer. It appears as if someone took a staple gun and tried to insert two staples in the package top. The result was that the staples punctured the packaging and went into the writing surface of the tablet inside! It may be unfair but I have to rate the product as 1 star because it arrived damaged. I cannot comment on how the product really works as I have returned the item to Amazon for replacement. I will be curious if they read my note and send me a new unit that has not been damaged or send me another damaged product. I hope I can get my replacement before Christmas. Amazon needs to work with Aiptek to see where the damage is being done. It has to be costing both of these companies a lot of money.
